Physical Preparation
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins released during the massage.
Shower: Take a warm shower to loosen your muscles, improve circulation, and remove any lotions or oils that could interfere with the massage.
Wear Comfortable Clothing: Choose loose-fitting clothing that will make it easy to undress and move around during the massage.
Light Meal: Avoid heavy meals right before your appointment, as this can lead to discomfort and bloating.
Avoid Sunburn: Do not get a sunburn before your massage, as this can make the session painful.
Remove Jewelry: Take off necklaces, bracelets, and long earrings, as you will need to remove all jewelry for the massage.
Mental & Informational Preparation
Arrive Early: Arriving a few minutes before your scheduled time allows you to relax and fill out intake forms without rushing.
Communicate: Inform your therapist about any injuries, open wounds, bruises, or areas of pain. Also, let them know your goals for the session, such as pain relief or general relaxation.
Relax: Try to get into a calm and peaceful state of mind before your appointment.
Things to Avoid
Alcohol and Caffeine: Avoid alcohol and caffeine before your massage, as they can have a dehydrating effect.
Large Meals: A large meal before a massage can make you feel sluggish and uncomfortable.
Topical Products: Avoid applying lotions or topical medications to your skin before the massage, as they can interfere with the therapist's ability to work on your muscles.
